John Merrill Johnston age 87 passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018 at his home in New Richmond, WI, surrounded by his family. John was born on December 8, 1930, in Brainerd, Minnesota to John & Elsie (Simpson) Jackson. After his father’s death, he was later adopted by Floyd Johnston. He is survived by his 4 children; son, Jeff Johnston (Fiancée Anne Jones), daughter, Jill Johnston, daughter, Jaci (Tom) Quigley, and son, Jim (Barbie Muellerleile) Johnston. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joanna (Jarad) Johnston-Richard, Jay Johnston, Joseph (Amanda) Johnston, Rebecca Hailey, Richard (Alicia) Hailey, Erica (Brad) Stoffel, Andrew (Olivia) St. Croix, Jack (Nicki) Johnston, Clare Johnston, Grant, Maggie, and Patrick Quigley; great grandsons, Connor, Bruce, Eli, Nolan, Richard, Lincoln, Henry, Julian; Step grandchildren, Bryan (Catabriea) Muellerleile, Brock (Kayley) Muellerleile, Ben Muellerleile, step great grandchildren, Leo, Bella, Verona and Dorothy, Annajo, Lexi, Brock and special family friend, Cheri Croft. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacque (Singleton); his parents, John and Elsie (Simpson); step father Floyd Johnston and daughter, Jane Johnston. John was overseas in Korea and Japan serving in the Army and after returning to the states, he and Jacque lived in various places in Minnesota where they started their family, finally settling in New Richmond in 1959 when he joined Doboy Packaging Machinery. Funeral Services 11 AM Friday September 7, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. Visitation 4-7 PM Thursday September 6, 2018 at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home in New Richmond. Visitation also one hour prior to service at the church. Military honors provided by the New Richmond American Legion. Memorials preferred to the John & Jacque Johnston Educational Scholarship Fund at the WITC Foundation.
