Charles (Chuck) Edwin Meath 89, passed away on July 19th 2014 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester Minnesota. He was born on October 8th 1924 in Cylon, Wisconsin to Charles A and Hildegarde Meath. Chuck grew up in New Richmond WI and graduated from New Richmond high school in 1942. Chuck was involved in agriculture throughout his career. Having grown up on his father’s farm (Charles A. Meath) outside of New Richmond, he spent the bulk of his career involved in multiple aspects of farming. In the 1940’s and 50’s Chuck worked on the family farm (Gloverdale) that included crops, cattle, horses and bronze turkeys In the late 1950’s Charles A. sold the family farm to Doughboy Industries and the farm became the Doughboy Experimental Farm. Charles A. and Sons initially managed the Doughboy Experimental Farm until Charles Sr. retired. Chuck would eventually become the General Manager for the entire farm operation, later known as the Doboy Research Farm. In the early 1970’s Chuck took on the responsibility as manager of all turkey operations for Quality Farms in Dodge Center, MN and closed out his career with Jerome Foods after they purchased Quality Farms. Chuck was widely known and respected throughout the poultry industry in the upper Midwest. He retired in 1986. Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Ann (Harstad); his parents, Charles A. and Hildegarde (Brinkman); sister, Marian Gillen; brother, Gerald (Jerry); son, Patrick and grandchildren, Anne Bernd and Theodore (Teddy) Rubin. Chuck is survived by his sisters, Mona (Gene) Randall and Donna (Angel) Ramirez; brother, Robert (Connie); daughters, Mary (Mike) Bernd of New Richmond Wisconsin, Michelle Howard of Rochester Minnesota, and Juli (Mark) Rubin of Red Wing Minnesota; his sons, Colin (Jennifer) Meath, of Rochester, Minnesota and Chuck (Lori) Meath, Willmar Minnesota, his grandchildren, Jim (Jennifer) Brockpahler, Ames Iowa, Bill (Jillian) Rubin Red Wing Minnesota and Kaitlin and Levi Meath, Willmar, Minnesota. Funeral Service 12 Noon Thursday July 24, 2014 at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ann Meath/Anne Bernd Trust Fund at St. Mary’s School, New Richmond, Wisconsin.
