Mary Palmer

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Josephine Palmer announces her passing at the age of 86 on March 14, 2025. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and caring friend to many. She is survived by her sister, Susan Miller; children, Susan (Todd) Goblish, Marc Palmer and David (Melissa) Palmer; grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Michael, Isabella, Joseph and Anthony; nephews, Daniel (Kristi) Miller and Michael Johnson and niece, Sara (Kyle) Johnson; grandnephews, Matthew, Mason, Max, Konnor and Kristian and grandniece, Madeline.

Born and raised in Stillwater, Minnesota. She graduated from Mount Mary University and began her career as a teacher. After teaching, she began a food service company that employed hundreds of people who passed out samples at Cub Foods throughout the country.

Those who had the honor of knowing Mary will remember her as a loving friend, always there to lend a hand and care for those in their time of need. Her selflessness made her a wonderful role model for all. She loved watching the Vikings, annual trips to the State Fair, all things blue and anything bird themed. She enjoyed walking and reading – and was a person of deep faith.

Mary was a loving grandmother who delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, hosting countless weekends at her pool, trips to Como Zoo & the MoA and walks to the park. Her love of Legos, crafts and origami made her a fun G’ma. She never forgot a birthday – always delivering meaningful custom cards with just the right picture – and often accompanied by her special rice krispie bars.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Grace; her sister, Katie Johnson; and her husband, Jon.

A private ceremony will be held with her family honoring Mary’s life.
