Jane Giossi

Jane Joanne Giossi (nee Linton), age 93, of Stillwater, Minnesota died on August 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 18, 1930, in Rosemount, MN. Jane was the 5th child of 7 to Edward and Maria Isabel Linton (nee McArdle). Jane spent her childhood on the farm playing outdoors and finding mischief. She enjoyed sharing stories from farm life. In early adulthood Jane moved to Oregon to work, and later enrolled at the University of Minnesota “farm campus” to study child psychology. She met William (Bill) Giossi while she worked at a White Castle in St. Paul, MN. Bill would come in for coffee every day during his bus route and after many weeks worked up the nerve to ask Jane out. The two married shortly thereafter and had a prolific relationship over many years, raising 9 kids which resulted in having many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jane retired from working as a baker at the Lowell Inn in Stillwater, MN. Family and friends enjoyed so many delicious meals made by Jane over the years. She was a seasoned reader – finishing 1-2 novels weekly up until her death. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and delighted when her grandchildren would spend hours at the puzzle table with her. One of her favorite things to do was go to the casino to play slots. In her final months, Jane found solace where she always had, in nature. Between pages of her current novel or episodes of Naked and Afraid, she would keep watch of the bird feeders outside her window, always noting to her frequent visitors what varieties the day witnessed. Jane had abundance in the things that mattered most, a loving and large family, close ties to siblings, delight in a good meal and hobbies that brought her joy every day. Most of all, she was blessed to have a sharp mind right to the end.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; siblings, Roger, John, Jim, Bob, Mary and Ed; and grandson, Faustin. She is survived by a large a loving family: sons, Billy (Loni) Giossi, Dan (Kay) Giossi, Jeff Giossi, Greg (Debbie) Giossi, Tom (John Carter) Giossi, and Jim Giossi; daughters, Nancy (John Broholm) Giossi, Mary (Robert) Crea, and Kim (Dave) Berto; grandchildren, Billy “Banjo”, Tim (Jessica), Debbie (Mark), Joe, Justin, Urbain, Anna, Emily, Amy, Josh (Amanda), Jake, Marcos, and Paloma; great grandchildren, Ashley, Olivia, Cassidy, Kimora, Jordin, Oliver, Owen, and Ava. Grandma was always there for all her grandchildren and truly delighted in their visits. Also survived by her brother, Joseph Linton; and many additional “bonus” family members and friends.

When Covid hit Grandma moved from Minnesota to Lawrence, Kansas to live with her oldest daughter, Nancy and son in law John. Two years later she moved back to Minnesota to live with her daughter Mary and son in law Robert. The entire family would like to express deep and enduring gratitude to Nancy, John, Mary, and Robert for providing Grandma with exceptional care and comfort in her final years. They were with her until the final moments to ensure a comfortable transition. Their efforts were an act of pure love which we can all learn from and emulate. The family would also like to express gratitude to the many care providers who have assisted with Grandma’s care the past several years. Per Jane’s wishes, no services will be held.
