Ilene Simon

Ilene Margaret Simon (Hennessy), age 92, passed peacefully on January 8, 2025. She passed at approximately 3:40 PM at the Deerfield Homes in New Richmond, WI. Ilene was born on June 25, 1932, at home in Emerald, WI. Ilene graduated from New Richmond high school where she met her husband Haulis Simon. Ilene and Haulis married on June 30, 1951, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cylon, Wisconsin. Ilene and Haulis were blessed with three boys and five girls. James (Karol), Renee (Don Brunner), Jean-Haulis/John (Sandra), Colleen (Steve Goodspeed), Joseph (Judy), Constance (Doug Plourde), Juliann (Mark Klatt) and Michelle (Todd Brackenwagen).

Ilene is survived by seven of her children, 31 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, two expecting great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Bernice Albert (George). She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Marie Hennessy, sister Mary Wright, brother Bill Hennessy, husband Haulis Simon, daughter Colleen Goodspeed, sons-in-law Mike Kunz, Don Brunner, Steve Goodspeed, Todd Brackenwagen, two unborn grandchildren, and great-grandson-Teddy.

Ilene accepted Christ in the Catholic Church and had been an active member of Immaculate Conception for many years. Ilene was a sweet lady to those that she met and knew her. She volunteered for the Red Cross, at elections, at her church, and at her kids school. She taught knitting and crocheting at the local technical college in New Richmond. She was very creative, artistic, and was an excellent seamstress. She loved working at Dueber’s Fabric Store. Also Ilene was an active member of the homemakers club. She loved to play the piano, to play bridge, to listen to Irish music, and to be with her friends and family. She was a very social person.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 PM (noon) on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church in New Richmond. Visitation will start at 11 AM, prior to Mass at the Church. Interment will be at the Church’s cemetery, reception will be held after the burial. Memorials preferred to apdaparkinson.org or halo.org
