Dorothy (DoDo) Peterson

Dorothy (DoDo) M. Peterson (née Nedved), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024.

DoDo was born June 13, 1937, to Emil and Dorothy Nedved in St. Paul, Minnesota. The youngest of three children, she grew up immersed in the family floral business on W. 7th St. DoDo firmly believed in family, working hard, and never forgetting to have fun.

DoDo worked outside the home, including owning and operating a clothing store. Regardless of her work, being with her family and caring for them brought her the most joy. She was always on the move from Cub Scouts to 4H, from swimming to dance and piano lessons, home perms, AND sending homemade birthday treats to school with her children. She would commonly say, “No rest for the wicked, ” as she assigned Saturday morning chores to her kids. She would load her brood into the car and announce, “We’re off like a herd of turtles.” She was creative; she took up cake decorating, sewed matching outfits for her kids, crocheted, baked an amazing assortment of Christmas cookies each year, and her cooking was second to none. DoDo was a super mom before super moms were a thing. Grandma DoDo, aka Gaga, devoted endless hours to her grandchildren, babysitting or being a spectator at their many concerts and sporting events. She was sharp; she enjoyed sudoku, Canasta, Scrabble, and played a mean game of Yahtzee. She enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, visiting casinos, and just the right amount of bling. DoDo was the type of person you admired and wanted to be around.

DoDo is survived by David A. Peterson, her devoted husband of 53 years. She is also survived by her children, Vicky Gaspord, Mike (Brenda) Habisch, Vanessa Donahue, Tracy (Bill) Habisch-Ahlin, Angela (Todd) Larson, and Alana (Shawn) Brown. She was loved by her 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Grandchildren: Christopher Gaspord, Holly Kammerer, Ashley Somsen, Jeffrey and Michaelyn Habisch, Jessica Habisch Lauck, Janel Habisch, Tessara and Cally Ahlin, Owen and Oliver Larson, Shelby Olek, Sadie Adams, Lexi and Mallory Brown. DoDo was preceded in death by her son, Mark Habisch; and her sisters, Lucille Roth and Maxine Hitz.

DoDo was a woman of remarkable strength and perseverance. Her life was a powerful example of how courage and determination can overcome any obstacle. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of resilience, love, and the importance of having fun will live on in the hearts of her family. Cheers…!
