Dolores Susan Borgstrom

Dolores “Putz” Borgstrom, 94, of Somerset, WI, died peacefully at St. Croix County Care Center on March 31, 2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her life was a blessing to everyone who knew her.

Dolores was born Oct 3, 1929, to John and Susan Blechinger of Almena, Wisconsin. In high school she was a cheerleader, in the Glee Club, and was the class secretary. She married the love of her life, Charles Borgstrom, on April 15, 1950. In the mid-fifties they purchased land on County Road C, with nothing but a windmill on it. There they built their beloved farm, where they lived together for almost 50 years until Charles’ death in 2002.

Grandma was an avid gardener and knitter and a wonderful cook. She loved to cook for her family, and we loved her fried chicken, her cream-cheese mints at Christmas time, her jelly-roll cakes, and many other goodies. Grandma always had a new hobby, and she was good at all of them – quilting, woodcarving, winemaking, line-dancing, and even a stint in her 60s as a JC Penneys catalog model. More importantly she was a kind person who always had a sympathetic ear and a big hug waiting for you.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sisters Dots and Ellie. She is survived by her children Sue, Janet, Laurie, Chuck, Bob, Oscar, Bill, and Mark; their spouses, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
