William “Bill” Harry Driscoll, age 69, of New Richmond passed away on July 25, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Regions hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Bill was born on August 7, 1946 to Howard and Rosemary (Heston) Driscoll in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He attended the University of River Falls and graduated with an Economics degree. Bill then served in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. After his service, Bill went back to the University of River Falls and graduated with a degree in Art. In November 1969 Bill married his beloved wife, Mari Beth McCabe. Bill worked at Andersen Windows for many years, first as a photographer, then as an engineer. Bill loved his community and stayed involved with the city in many ways, he served on the New Richmond Park Board, was a member of the Pathway Committee, and was the force to name the new athletic complex at New Richmond High School for Johnny Blood McNally.
He was a stellar athlete, in college he was a gymnast, and he played baseball and softball into his late forties. Bill was also a State Officer for the Knights of Columbus for three years. He was instrumental in bringing back the slogan “The City Beautiful” for New Richmond. Bill will always be remembered for his sense of humor, and the many acts of kindness extended to family and all of his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Mari Beth Driscoll; two children, Chris Driscoll, of New Richmond, and Devon Driscoll, also of New Richmond; grandson, Malachy Driscoll; siblings, Sue (Ed) Erickson, Josie Driscoll, Jim (Margaret) Driscoll, Mike (Brenda) Driscoll, and Pat (Rebecca) Driscoll. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to Mass at the church.
