Mary Ann Derrick, age 85, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Arthur Rose Assisted Living. She was born on September 22, 1932 to Bernard and Blanche (Dubois) Meyer in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mary Ann graduated from St. Agnes High School in St. Paul. After marrying Bill and starting a family, they settled in at their farm in New Richmond, Wisconsin in 1960. She faithfully took care of raising their family. In 1967 she became her husband’s business partner when Derrick Construction was started. She served many roles including business administrator, office manager, and interior designer until she “retired”. Never did she forget her role as spouse, mother, grandmother, and friend as she made it her life mission to serve others as her strong Catholic faith guided her throughout her life.
Mary Ann lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many things such as family time at the cabin, gardening, being a religious education teacher, travel, and a myriad of community volunteer activities. Most importantly, she always seemed to be there when needed.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Bernard. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Derrick; children, William (Jeanne) Derrick, Tom (Janice) Derrick, Steven (Meg) Derrick, Ronald (Kathleen) Derrick, Jeanne (Ron) Cook; grandchildren, Michael Derrick, Lydia (Kelly) Skadberg, Wesley Derrick, Shelby Derrick, Michael (Jennipher) Derrick, Michelle (Kevin) Lorentz, Chad (Vicki) Derrick, Blakley Derrick, Sean Derrick, Evan Derrick, Cassie Cook, Morgan Cook; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Derrick, Rita (James) Brown and sister-in-law Valerie Meyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM on Saturday February 3, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Wisconsin.
